The Dubliners - further along

39 - "THE DUBLINERS" wurden 1962 als "THE RONNE DREW BALLAD GROUP" gegründet. Sie machten sich in Irland einen Namen durch ihre regelmäßigen Auftritte im "O' Donogue's" Pub in Dublin. Ronnie Drew gefiel der Name allerdings nicht. Als er dann das Buch "The Dubliners" von James Joyce las, gefiel ihm der Name sehr gut und er benannte die Gruppe um. Bekannt wurde die Gruppe durch ihnen Auftritt beim Edinburgh Festival 1963. Danach bekamen sie die BBC Show HOOTENANY und einen Plattenvertrag bei Transatlantic Records. Dort kam ihre erst LP mit dem Namen "THE DUBLINERS" heraus.
Die Gruppe ist immer noch aktiv. Nach 50 Jahren gab es auch viele Wechsel in der Band. Barney MCKenna ist inzwischen das einzige Gründungsmitglied das noch aktiv mit dabei ist.
Die CD "further along" wurde 1992 bei Pinnorek Records veröffentlicht.
